It is not long now until our Eleganza Collezioni Spring/Summer 2014 show! The event will be taking place on Thursday 27th March, where we will be unveiling our latest occasion wear collection in a floral themed catwalk show! The entire collection is designed and created by our talented in-house designer Helen Tatner and her skilled team of seamstresses who have been working hard to to ensure that this second collection is even more successful than the last.
In anticipation of our event, we decided to interview the lovely Helen to find out a little more about her inspiration behind the collection and the hard-work that goes into making such beautiful pieces...
- Hi Helen, could you tell us what your initial inspirations were for the s/s 14 Eleganza Collezioni collection?
For this collection I really wanted to focus on a strong, feminine look with stunning details. I wanted the collection to feature soft, flowing lines giving gentle movement, contrasted with strong bateau necklines and sheer panelling. As it is for the Spring / Summer collection, I used a pastel colour palette which is a current trend, but with more sophisticated tones. I also wanted to push myself and experiment with textures and exquisite beadwork. It has been a challenging but very exciting. I am looking forward to showcasing this unique collection at our fabulous event, and raising awareness for the brilliant charity Anthony Nolan that we support.

As a young designer I take influence from a variety of sources. In terms of high-end designers, Mimi Plange’s “Garden” collection and Elie Saab’s S/S collection 2014 have been my initial inspiration. These designers encapsulate elegance and femininity. However, it is our customers that feed my creativity the most. Eleganza Sposa attracts such a strong savvy group of women who I get the privilege of speaking to and getting their input.

This collection is for the marvellous mothers of the brides, savvy quests and the fashion-esters of every age. The gowns are elegant, feminine, unique and iconic. If you are looking for a one off piece that you won’t find anywhere else, Eleganza has it.
4. How long does it take on average from the point of design straight through to the finished garment?
There isn’t a standard answer for production. It depends on the style of garment. The garments in this particular collection take an extensive amount of time due to the level of beadwork and high quality finish. We are also very particular about fit, we do not let any customer walk out of the shop without looking 100% perfect. If I had to give an approximate time frame for this collection, it would a minimum of 2/3 months.
If this has got you as excited as we are to see the finished collection then you must join us on the 27th at our Glasgow Flagship Store. The night is set to be spectacular with delicious cocktails on arrival and fundraising for Ayesha's Bonemarrow appeal. Tickets are £5 on the door or to ensure guaranteed entry RSVP to, glasgow@eleganza.co.uk! We hope to see you there! x
