Eleganza Sposa were delighted to sponsor and support the Glasgow Caledonian University 4th Year Fashion Business Students 2013 Fashion Show. We set the students the challenge of designing exquisite wedding gowns for our in-house Eleganza Iconica Collection. Four inspiring winners were selected, one from each of the Eleganza key looks.
Megan Casci, a Fashion Business graduate from Glasgow Caledonian University, won the Classica category in the Eleganza Sposa Wedding Gown Design Project. Her dress 'Milena' perfectly captures our Classica bridal style, which is for the bride looking for beautiful, classic silhouettes.
We spoke with Megan to learn more...
Which fashion designer do you most admire?
I absolutely love designers that offer something really unique and innovative, such as Meadham Kirchhoff – they always have the most amazing collections that I get really excited about seeing!
How did it feel to have your design selected by Eleganza?
I couldn’t believe it! It’s so nice to get such recognition for weeks and weeks of hard work – and it’s amazing to think that something I designed could end up being someone’s perfect dress for one of the most important days of their life!
What was the inspiration behind your design?
I looked back to the 1920s and 30s at rural Italian towns where the families were huge and several generations all lived together in one house – I thought the simplicity of the lifestyle (where the most important things were food, wine and family!) worked really well for the Classica trend I was designing for, so I tried to incorporate the feeling of the time in to my dress.
What are your plans for the future now you have graduated?
I’ve been working towards pursuing a career in fashion feature writing, doing a few unpaid internships over the last year and currently writing for men’s style and grooming blog Fashion Beans, as well as recently established online cultural and lifestyle magazine TALLULAH Digital.
The 'Milena' gown designed by Megan Casci will be unveiled in an exclusive event at our Eleganza 'Iconica' Boutique.
