Eleganza Real Bride: Amelia

Eleganza Real Bride: Amelia

How would you describe your Eleganza Experience?

My experience at Eleganza was fantastic. From my first appointment I felt welcomed, looked after and at ease. The wedding dress shopping process can be quite overwhelming, however the staff at Eleganza (especially my stylist Angela) are extremely experienced and understanding, and work really hard to find you your dream dress! I had been to numerous wedding dress stores in Scotland and in London, however nothing could beat the professionalism and beautiful range of dresses at Eleganza.

Let’s go back to the start - what was your engagement like?

Bruce proposed to me at Eilean Donan Castle in the Highlands in 2019 and we spent a few days away at stunning Glencoe House afterwards. We were meant to be married in April 2020 however Covid had other ideas. We finally had our special day in August 2021 after three postponements!
After the wedding we had a mini-moon at Gleneagles and are planning a three week trip through France and Italy for April/May 2022 (for our proper honeymoon).

Tell us all about your Martina Liana wedding gown.

My dress was the ultimate princess dress with layers of tulle, floral details and a plunging back. I never thought I would wear a princess style dress, however I felt like a 'real' bride as soon as I stepped into it and knew it was the one! My family and friends (and Bruce!) absolutely loved it. I wore the dress with a waist length veil (purchased from Eleganza), lace and pearl Jimmy Choo shoes, and classic pearl jewellery from Tiffany & Co.
I changed into a beautiful figure hugging Suzanne Neville dress in the evening, which I also purchased at Eleganza. It was amazing being able to wear two beautiful yet very different dresses on the day.

Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette for your wedding decor?

The inspiration for our big day was a romantic, classic Scottish castle wedding with a green, gold and white palette. I love florals and asked our florist for plenty of beautiful 'in season' green and while flowers. I also worked with our planner/stylist to ensure the styling in the church and castle reflected and aligned with the beautiful surrounding area of our venue, which is in a secluded wooded glen in rural Aberdeenshire. We also asked our guests to dress in Scottish black tie which added to the classic and romantic feel of the day.

Tell us more about your wedding day!

First and foremost, we wanted to ensure that our Big Day reflected "us" as an Australian/Scottish couple.
We celebrated in Scottish style in a Castle with bagpipes, Ceilidh dancing and whisky tasting, however we also incorporated some Aussie elements including summer inspired cocktails (and after dinner espresso martinis!), famous Australian songs played by our piper and our table names were places we have lived in/visited in Australia.
We also wanted to ensure our family and friends had an amazing day, so we had plenty of live music (including a performance from Bruce's sister and husband who perform on Broadway in NYC and a gospel choir at the drinks reception), cocktail making bartenders, a magician, outdoor games and a surprise fireworks display to finish the day off with a bang!

Do you have a favourite picture from your wedding day? Why is this image so special to you?

I love the close up confetti photo of Bruce and myself after we walked out of the Church. Walking out from the Church into bright Scottish sunshine (as a married couple!) with our family and friends cheering us on and throwing confetti was such a memorable and beautiful moment.
