Eleganza Real Bride: Lucy

Eleganza Real Bride: Lucy

How would you describe your Eleganza Experience?

It was great. I was nervous attending and chose Eleganza because I was interested in Suzanne Neville gowns. My consultant Francesca was excellent, she never pressured me to make a decision but was also honest in terms of what suited me too. Plus was able to suggest a bespoke gown, combining the top of one and the bottom of the other to make my dream dress!

Would you like to share with us your proposal moment, favourite part of planning your wedding or what you have planned for your honeymoon?

The proposal was on my 30th birthday on Gullane Beach. A tradition of my parents is to celebrate events by taking a bottle of champagne to a beach or nice location so before checking into the hotel, he suggested a trip down to the beach with a bottle of fizz in his hand. The sun was shining in December and after throwing the tennis ball as far as he could to distract our cocker spaniel, he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him.

Our honeymoon will be in September. We are travelling first to Kenya to go on Safari and then to Zanzibar.

Tell us more about your Suzanne Neville gown!

Bespoke dress - the top of Gabrielle with the bottom of Amelia.

Suzanne Neville dresses warrant the love brides have for them. I felt wonderful in mine and particularly loved the buttons running down the back. Plus there was an inbuilt corset which really extenuated my shape - being only 5ft2, it was important to have shape in my gown. It was also practical enough to wear all night and received so many lovely compliments from guests.

What was your inspiration for your wedding? Did you follow a specific theme or colour palette?

We had no inspiration except for it to feel relaxed and rustic. We mostly stuck with sage, neutrals and white tones for decor but we were not worried whatsoever about things matching completely. I am no expert in this field so left it almost entirely up to our styling team at Platter & Pop who were incredible.

Tell us more about your Big Day!

We were married at Dunglass Estate in Cockburnspath which was beautiful.

The bridal party stayed on site Friday - Sunday allowing for a pre-wedding dinner and post-wedding bbq.

We were married in Dunglass Collegiate Church which is a historical church ruin with the reception in the purpose built pavilion. We had 135 guests celebrate with us all day which was amazing. The most important thing to us was for guests to have fun and tried to accommodate this with cocktails and canapés post ceremony with Rustys Piano Bar entertaining guests. The best part of this was that the sun appeared unexpectedly the morning of the wedding following torrential rain at 6am so we were able to make use of the beautiful courtyard at the venue.

We had guests travel from all over the world to celebrate with us: Australia, Canada, Thailand, Spain. It was a really special day!

What was the most memorable moment?

The ceremony: the church has no doors in the doorframes or glass in the windows. We were stood in the centre of church with guests surrounding us on both sides. It was freezing standing up there but it made for such an atmospheric & special moment as we exchanged vows and rings.
